Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Total Metrics Pty Ltd (we, us) handles personal information in connection with the Deep Almanac website and services (the Service). We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
Website and API access logs. When you or your software access the Service, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records technical information such as IP address, request path, user agent and timestamp. We use this to operate, secure and measure use of the Service.
Correspondence. If you email us, we keep your email address and the content of your message so we can respond.
Accounts and API keys. If we introduce accounts or API keys, we will collect the details needed to create and manage them, such as a name, email address and organisation, and will update this policy before doing so.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal information.
2. The datasets
The datasets published through the Service are drawn from publicly available sources and are intended to be aggregated or otherwise not about identifiable individuals. If you believe a dataset contains personal information about you that should not be there, contact us and we will review it promptly.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, secure and improve the Service.
- To respond to enquiries and requests.
- To understand how the Service is used, in aggregate.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Disclosure and overseas transfer
We share information with service providers who help us run the Service, principally Cloudflare, Inc. for hosting, content delivery and email routing. Those providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. We may also disclose information where required by law.
5. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Access logs are retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes and are then deleted or de-identified. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
6. Access and correction
You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable time and, if we decline a request, we will tell you why.
7. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
